Here are some easy, crafty ideas anybody can make:

Mysterious curiosities
You will need:
Old glass jars
Some wire
tin foil
clay
food dye

These strange items could be preserved scientific curiosities or unusual alchemical potions! They include a tentacled, scientific specimen, a weird one-eyed worm and a strange shining blue liquid.

These curisoties are really easy to make. They are made using old glass jars and containers. The specimens themselves are made from polymer or air drying clay, and then roughly painted. I then coated their skin surfaces in various glues to create a horrible peeling skin texture. The liquid is simply water with food dye added, to give a mirky, formaldehyde colour. To finish I made hand-written labels, and dated them by rubbing with a used tea bag. Use you imagination to create some creepy, magical potions and scientific anomalies! The strange blue liquid is simply washing up liquid!

Why spend money buying uglydolls when you can make your own from recycled stuff? They're free, quick, easy and fun to make. To make these I used old material cut-offs, bits from old t-shirts, and anything else I could think of. Just draw the outline onto a piece of oven-paper, cut it out, pin it to your material, cut this out then sew to halves together and stuff with strips of material.. Easy! A great gift too!

Yes, it's a witch-

Where I live (Lancaster) is famous for it's history of witchcraft. If you read Mike Mignola you will probably know that! This is a quick witch model, one of the first sculpt I did, using air drying clay. I think I saw a similar model of a Terry Pratchett character so the idea is not really mine:( But everyone needs a Witch about the house, even if she's asleep in her cauldron. See my page on witchcraft for more!

sun mon junk art

This sun looks great and was really easy to make. Its made from old coke cans. I simply cut them open, cut the shapes out and engraved a design on the rear, so it stands out. Because it's so reflective it didn't photograph well, but its really bright and colourful. I have also made a light decorated with dragonflies cut from aluminium which look beautiful.

green man glass

Glass paints are a great way to reuse old boring glasses and bottles, making them interesting and useful. Make candleholders, bubblebath holders or just decorations.
