These two graphite drawings use an interesting technique. A layer of graphite is layed down, then the drawing is done using a variety of erasers and torchons:

A great technique for drawing grey hair: scratch into a heavy paper with a sharp (ish) edge, they lightly shade over it to create thin, white hairs:

I drew this charcoal image from a photographic negative of a statue. I then switched my drawing back to
a postive, using photoshop. It creates an interesting texture, resembling stone and skin, with amazing deep black shadows:
